Westchester County Board Chairman Responds to President Obama's State of the Union Address
Chairman Jenkins congratulates President Obama in his effort towards retaining and creating jobs for the middle-class; Encourages Congress to work together to face challenges ahead
In response to President Barack Obama’s ‘State of the Union’ speech presented before the U.S. Congress, Westchester County Board of Legislators Chairman Ken Jenkins (D-Yonkers) released to the following statement:
“The U. S. economy continues to improve, and we have President Barack Obama to thank in this regard for his efforts to create—and protect—good jobs across the nation. County governments, like Westchester’s, work closely with our federal and state partners to maintain investments in infrastructure and deliver quality services within a cost-effective model that saves taxpayer dollars on every level. President Obama understands that the best way we can face the challenges ahead is by working together in sincere cooperation and honoring the shared values that have made this country great and prosperous.
The President believes – just as I do – that this is a make or break moment for our country, and what's at stake is the promise and dream for an America dedicated to 'liberty and justice for all.' Tonight, we were given a blueprint from a leader who intends to keep our nation moving forward and rebuilding an economy where hard work pays off and responsibility is rewarded."
